BIGGER & BETTER E-COMMERCE SITE FOR CHIPS

BIGGER & BETTER E-COMMERCE SITE FOR CHIPS

CHIPS, UK’s largest independent video game retailer, has joined forces with The Hut Group to offer its online customers even more choice at competitive prices.

CHIPS, which has 31stores across the UK from Glasgow to the south coast, is now offering customers the chance to buy not only video games online, but books, CDs and electronic goods – all delivered to their door.

The new site, www.chipsworld.co.uk , will now be managed entirely by The Hut Group, which is now recognised as one of the UK’s leading experts in the e-commerce field.

“My business partner, Don McCabe, and I set up www.chipsworld.co.uk in 1999, when e-commerce was in its infancy. For the last nine years we have ran the site in-house,” said Nik Agar, Joint Managing Director of Chipsworld Ltd and CHIPS Franchise Ltd.

“However, we are retailers and we recognise that there are now e-tail experts who can help us improve the site, range of product and service we provide to our customers under the CHIPS banner.

”The Hut Group is a specialist in the e-tail and e-commerce field and we are delighted we have been able to join forces. It is one of the fastest growing technology companies in the UK and already runs websites for a number of large retailers, including supermarkets,” said Nik.
CHIPS stores all buy, sell and trade new and second-hand consoles, video games and accessories. The new www.chipsworld.co.uk site offers new video games, books, CDs and electronic goods.

“CHIPS stores have been operating on the high street for 23 years now. We wanted to be able to offer our customers a wider range of product at competitive e-tail prices online as not everyone is able to visit a CHIPS store,” said Nik.

“As well as the e-tail section, the site also has a corporate section which gives details of all our stores, managers and franchisees, so it is very useful to our customers too.”

Matthew Moulding, CEO of The Hut Group, adds: “We are delighted to be working with chipsworld.co.uk. As the country’s largest independent video games specialist, CHIPS already has a loyal customer base and we are excited about the opportunities for helping the company branch out into new product sets.”

There are 31 CHIPS retail stores across the UK. Eleven are owned and managed by Chipsworld Ltd and there are also 20 franchise stores which all trade under the CHIPS banner.

The Hut Group offers retailers an end-to-end ecommerce solution that delivers a fully managed service with the technology to provide a reliable transactional website for any online retail operation.
